For starters the TPs are always spouting about freedom and oppressive government, until that is Da Gubmint is the Double Authoritarian Scott Walker. Then their worship of authority kicks in and they willingly subjugate themselves to their Ruler's Order to get permission (aka a permit) from the Gubmint to peaceably assemble and exert their right to freedom of speech. That is either cognitive dissonance, the ability to hold two conflicting beliefs and fail to recognize the incongruity, or it is hypocrisy, the willingness to hold two conflicting beliefs and fail give a crap. Both are at epidemic levels in the Cult of Con which of course rests on faith and not reasoning.
To hell with your Fitzwalkerstani permission slip, here are your "permits" boys!
Wisconsin Consitution - Article 1 - Declaration of Rights - SECTION 4. [Right to assemble and petition] The right of the people peaceably to assemble, to consult for the common good, and to petition the government, or any department thereof, shall never be abridged.
Constitution of the United States of America - Bill of Rights - Amendment I: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Perverting good things into extremist badness is what the TPs do bestest! Just look at what they do on a regular basis with the values of goodwill and fellowship espoused by Christ, twisting them into excuses for their lust for power, control, selfishness and greed. In co-opting Woody Guthrie's beautiful song they have created a gross perversion of the original (which I had the great pleasure of singing around a campfire with old friends this past weekend). With beautiful lyrics and imagery, Woody's song, strummed on guitar labeled "This Machine kills Fascists" extolled the grandeur of an America that we all shared. As I was walking that ribbon of highway, I saw above me that endless sky way, I saw below me that golden valley, this land was made for you and me.
The illiberal Tea Party perversion above, while neither clever nor creatively contrived, is steeped in selfishness, authoritarianism and the threat of violence. Furthermore, rather than the E pluribus unum unity and inclusiveness of the original, the TP perversion is ill willed and exclusionary telling some of our citizens that they should go away, don't ruin their day (with your right to assemble) and leave the Con artists alone, OR ELSE!
And to top it all off, these nut jobs are Teabagnorant enough to stand in the rotunda of OUR (yes theirs and ours) Capitol Building and sing this stupid piece of crap. It IS OUR land, the Rotunda is PUBLIC PROPERTY you morons! These Cult of Con indoctrinants are so blinded by their little faith-base ideology that they think those they oppose don't also enjoy owning and living on private property and that they want to take theirs away, SHEESH! The poor dears are still stuck with a 1950's mentality, fighting the cold war with a red menace hiding under every bed. Who are these people, the fricken John Birch Society?!
Hey selfish and divisive, authoritarian and violence-worshiping, hypocritically twisted teabagnorant dorks, I too own a shotgun. However, I feel no need to threaten anyone with it in order to prove whatever ridiculous and pathetic point you are attempting to make.
